Fascial Movement Taping (FMT) is a technique using strong, specially cut fabric tape that is designed to support and stabilize the muscles and joints in order to facilitate the body’s return to homeostasis without compromising range of motion. FMT also provides extended soft tissue manipulation for days beyond the session in order to prolong the benefits of the therapy administered in the clinical setting. FMT is generally latex-free and safe for all ages. FMT has been shown to successfully treat a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and structural conditions. By targeting different receptors within the somatosensory system, taping alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin away from the muscle and facial tissue thereby allowing the free flow of lymphatic fluid, thus increasing interstitial space and allowing for a decrease in inflammation of the affected areas. Fascial Movement Taping Fascial movement taping can be used for: Achilles tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, jumper’s knee (PFS), ACL/MCL issues, rotator cuff injuries, groin and hamstring pulls, lower back issues, shin splints, tennis and golf elbow, and many more soft tissue injuries. Fascial Movement Taping is a brand new way of thinking about our bodies and a very recently created modern modality. Based on the concept of muscles acting together in a chain, FMT’s revolutionary techniques utilize an idea called “longitudinal anatomy”, also known as the “movement patterns” concept. Put simply, FMT focuses on the body’s integration of movement via multi-muscle contractions as a means of connecting the brain to the body’s uninterrupted fascial web in order to enhance rehab and athletic performance via cutaneous (skin) stimulation.  As a result, all vessels below the taped area are lifted away from the muscle and relieved through greatly improved blood circulation, which assists in the outflow of fluids in the tissues, such as with bruises or edema. This lifting effect can also lead to a reduction of pain caused by inflammatory processes.
